Eagle's Gaze
Solid black, full spread — power you can read across the room.
Overview
A pilot wanted the thing he sees from the cockpit — an eagle at full spread, head turned in profile. Marcus scaled the wings to the shoulder blades so the piece opens with the client's posture, and carved the feathers entirely from negative skin against solid black.
The approach
Three full-day sessions. The silhouette and wing mapping went down first; then dense black packing in controlled passes; then a finishing sitting to sharpen every feather edge after the skin settled. Sunscreen for life — solid black earns it.
- Silhouette composed to the client's frame
- Negative-space feathers over saturated black
- Finishing pass for edges that stay sharp
